Our First Project in 2021

In 2020, a group of Cameroonian refugee girls in the Adagom Refugee Camp in Cross River State in Nigeria who fled the ongoing Anglophone crisis in Cameroon by the Welisane Foundation. Based on the unbearable conditions women and girls are living in the refugee camps, they face difficulties during their menstrual periods. This led to call for interested NGOs / CSOs to form a coalition. We are a coalition of non-profit organizations promoting good Menstrual Hygiene Management and working for the socio-economic empowerment of girls and women in and out of Nigeria headed by the Natineee Empowerment for Sustainable Impact Initiative (NESII) in Nigeria.n a bid to contribute our quota to ending period poverty, we crowdsourced for funds to execute this project. This project supports women and girls with sanitary pads, providing comprehensive menstrual hygiene education and contribute in reducing the sexual health risks on vulnerable conflict affected women and girls seeking refuge in the Adagom refugee camp in Nigeria which is host to over 13,000 Cameroonians and about 8200 thousand girls & women. With the objective of improving their sexual and reproductive health during these difficult times compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our first project in 2021 commemorating the May 28, International Menstrual Hygiene Day we travelled to camp and reached about 650 women and girls. In 2022, we planned the intervention to scale up our intervention to donate reusable sanitary pads to 1500 girls, during the World Menstrual Hygiene Day from the 28th of May 2022.
